First Day - Tooth Paste

On the first day of school I like to do a lesson with tooth paste to teach a very important lesson. Students are given a small tube of tooth paste and asked to completely empty out all of the tooth paste and then they have to try to get the tooth paste back in the tube. After the students try this for a while we talk about how hard it was to get the tooth paste back into the tube. This lesson is to help students realize that it is important to think before saying things that could be hurtful to other. When we say something that could hurt another person it is hard to take back just like it is hard to get the tooth paste back into the tube.
